The Proposed Charter, Proposal P, Would Raise Taxes and Cut Services

Proposal P would cost $2.2 billion , make cuts to city services resulting in longer response times for emergency services and trash collection, negatively impact neighborhood safety, and put Detroiters’ pensions at risk.

Proposal P Would Bankrupt Detroit (Again)

The chief financial officer for Detroit said Proposal P would cause “an imminent fiscal crisis” and would cost the city $2.2 billion. Gov. Whitmer said Proposal P “could spark another financial crisis.”
